5th Sustainable Agri-Food Conference in Cambodia under the theme “Growing a Better Cambodia: Sustainable Food Innovations and Transformations”

On 28 March 2025, at Cambodiana Hotel, Phnom Penh, Amru Rice, Cambodia Agriculture Cooperative Corporation (CACC), and the Cambodia Rice Federation (CACC), supported by Cambodia Australia Partnership for Resilient Economic Development (CAPRED), co-hosted the 5th Sustainable Agri-Food Conference in Cambodia under the theme “Growing a Better Cambodia: Sustainable Food Innovations and Transformations”, presided over by H.E. Va Rothsan, Secretary of State of Ministry of Commerce, with high presence from H.E. Dr. Kao Thach Delegate of Royal Government of Cambodia, CEO of Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (ARDB), H.E. Dr. Mey Kalyan, Senior Advisor, Supreme National Economic Council (SNEC), Board Chairman of CACC, Ms. Kirsty Harris, Head of Development Cooperation of the Australian Embassy, Oknha Chan Sokheang, President of Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF), Oknha Song Saran, CEO of Amru Rice, Co-founder of CACC, and Board Chairman of CRF, and with participants from relevant stakeholders in the agriculture sector approximately 350 participants.
The conference aimed to promote innovative, resilient, and sustainable agricultural practices by bringing together national and international experts from the private sector, government, and development partners through insight sharing and discussions centered on food quality compliance, market access, and current trends; financing mechanisms with a particular focus on Green Climate Financing and de-carbonization; and the integration of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles in public-private partnerships for sustainable food security.
In addition, Amru Rice and CACC have taken further steps in the mission to promote and expand the potential of Regenerative Agriculture in Cambodia by engaging key players in the agricultural value chain, notably with the signing of a contract for the purchase of tillage machines, a contract for the purchase and distribute of biochar to farmer and ACs that are Amru Rice and CACC’s supply partners, the contract on the supply of rice seed that is climate resilience and the cover crop. At the same time, Amru Rice and CACC also signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Preah Vihear Meanchey Union of Agricultural Cooperate (PMUAC) on cooperation in protection and conservation and low-carbon implementation of organic production, MOU with the Battambang Union Agricultural Cooperative (BUAC) on the development of a standard rice supply chain for Regenerative Agriculture and Sustainable Rice Production (SRP) for 5 years (2025-2030), MOU with the Development and Partnership for Action (DPA) in Northeastern of Cambodia, and MOU with Farmers and Nature Network (FNN) in the Kravanh Mountain Region.
